"In a world where 'housing' is slowly succumbing to a tool of capital, GROW hits the pause button, asking for more of where and how we live communally in urban environments," the Modern Office of Design + Architecture (MODA) team said.
"We had to use all existing openings — sliding doors and skylights in vaulted ceilings — but there was no rhythm.
These included the restoration of the brutalist Park Hill Estate in Sheffield, the conversion of the 18th-century Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings and the transformation of a Victorian terrace into the Bradbury Works workspace.
"The scoop was established and further refined using accurate 3D parametric modelling to define a tight viewing corridor to the church window from a chosen vantage point at eye level on Union Street," Jones explained.
The company has vowed to donate one per cent of every home solid to the Cosmic Foundation Initiative, which is "dedicated to providing affordable housing and clean energy to children who were displaced by war".
